The bar chart compares the share of electricity generated from renewable sources in four countries, Denmark, Brazil, Vietnam and Poland, in 2000 and 2020. Overall, the proportion rose in every country over the two decades, with Denmark recording by far the most dramatic transformation.
In 2000, Brazil led the group with 35 per cent of its electricity coming from renewables, while Denmark, Vietnam and Poland were all below 10 per cent, with Poland the lowest at 2 per cent. By 2020, Denmark had overtaken Brazil, rising from 8 per cent to 52 per cent to become the highest figure on the chart, while Brazil also grew, reaching 46 per cent.
Vietnam and Poland showed the most noticeable proportional gains. Vietnam's share increased sevenfold, from 3 per cent to 21 per cent, while Poland's climbed from 2 per cent to 15 per cent. In absolute terms, however, Denmark's rise of 44 percentage points far outstripped that of any other country. Despite this progress, Poland remained the lowest of the four countries in 2020, and Vietnam stayed ahead of it in both years.
